For my practice photos I used the model that I will use in my actual photos as this will give me a better of what the end product will look like. I took a few photos that I will be using for my front cover, DPS and contents page. I think that I like the last three photos and will be using these poses in my final product. I will also be using props for the final product and different clothing.

1. Are there any potential hazards that
could pose a health and safety risk where your photo shoot will take place
(trailing cables/traffic/other objects )?
There
isn’t any major hazards but there are some that could harm someone. This could
be things like cables on the floor so I will need to to make sure that the
place is safe where the model is.
2. What will you do to ensure these risks
are minimised?
I
will make sure that the model and I manoeuvre with care and I will try and cut
down on the excess wires to reduce the chance of tripping over them.
3. Will the time of day/weather affect the
outcome of the photos? Have you allowed for this?
No
it won’t affect the outcome as I am indoors and can control the lighting.
4. Have you considered the background to
your photos, particularly if taken outside? How will you ensure you will get
the background you want?
Yes
I have. I think that I am going to use a basic grey background as this is
normally what is used in rap magazines so I will be able to get the background
I want.
5. Have you considered lighting? What
about the ‘problems’ of natural lighting, either outside, or streaming through
a window? Will you need to use a flash? Have you considered reflective objects
that might spoil the effect?
I
have considered the lighting and it will be easy to control the lighting as I
am indoors and I will block up the windows with black sheets if there is any
windows. I will probably use the flash so that I get a clear photo if the
lighting isn’t very good.
6. Do you need permission to take photos
in the place/venue you have in mind?
Yeah I need to book an appointment to use the facilities.
7. Do you need to book time in a room (eg
the photography studio at Shiney)?
Yes I do, I need to book time in a photo studio at
Sunderland University.
8. Are other people/crowds likely to be an
issue for you? What have you done to ensure that it will not spoil the effect?
No it won’t be an issue as I am indoors and I have booked
the studio so nobody else should be in the way.
9. Are you reliant on lifts/props/friends’
equipment/models? How have you planned that these things will come together at
the appointed time? Plan B?
I am
not reliant on lifts or friends as I am getting the metro with my model so i
know that the model will be able to get there. I will also leave early so that
I know that we are not late and I will be able to get the equipment set up.
10. Finally, have you thought of every
eventuality…?
I have thought of all the eventualities as I am in a booked
studio so it will only be me and my model and there aren’t many eventualities
to think about. I think that I have
thought about all of the eventualities.

What emotional impact do you want your photography do have
upon the reader? How?
I want my magazine to
have an influenced impact on the readers of my magazine. I will do this by the
lighting and the pose of the model.
What personnel do you need? Who are you going to photograph?
I will need a friend
to take photos of. This will be one of my classmates as they will understand
what I want them to do and I also want a male.
What props will you need?
I will need sunglasses
and maybe some jewellery like a chain necklace as this is something that
rappers wear.
How are you going to emphasise colour?
I will emphasise the
colours by making my colour black and white. This will be good for the magazine
as normally rap magazines are quite dark without vibrant colours.
Have you briefed your personnel/models?
Yes I have told my
model as they are in my class and I have text them the information to make sure
that the model is available.
What lighting will you need? Any other equipment?
I will use the
lighting in the studio as they have professional lighting that will be good
enough to use.
Where will you shoot? Will you need a backdrop?
I will shoot at the
Sunderland University, St. Peters campus, and I will be focusing on a medium
close up as this is what is usually used in most magazines.
Make-up? Costume?
I won’t be using any
makeup as I am using a male model and rappers won’t wear makeup. This will make
my magazine more authentic.
